SPOTLIGHT ON AUTHORS
Photo: Eugenia Macer-Story
Eugenia Macer-Story is a highly respected author in New York. She is prolific and creative. Most recently, I was asked by media guru, Carol Lexter to review Macer-Story's books. I did, and I was delighted. I enjoyed reading her "Struck by Green Lightning"; it is multidimensional and captivating. The theme is rich in visions and imagination. It rotates around flying saucers, folklore, and innocent folks from a small town who are taken by these phenomena. Macer-Story is a great story teller with captivating imagination.
I also reviewed another book by Macer-Story "Doing Business in the Adirondacks: True Tales of the Bizarre and Supernatural". No question this woman is always fascinating and prolific, Eugenia Macer-Story is indeed a terrific story teller. And it shows in this book. Unexpected scenes, unusual colorful style are only two aspects of her creative genius. The author excels in blending folklore, politics, paranormal and the risqué. Rating" 5 Stars- Reviewer: Rudolph Sebastian.

AROUND THE FANCY WORLD Read: Unknown Amazing Facts About New York: Stories, secrets... THE MAGICAL CHARM OF AVENUE DES CHAMPS ELYSÉES
This impressive promenade stretches from the Place the la Concorde to the Place Charles de Gaulle, the site of the Arc de Triomphe. At its western end it is bordered by cinemas, theatres, cafés and luxury shops. Near the Place de la Concorde, the street is bordered by the Jardins des Champs-Elysées, beautifully arranged gardens with fountains and some grand buildings including the Grand and Petit Palais at the southern side and the Elysée at its northern side. The Champs-Elysées is used for all the major celebrations. This is where Parisians celebrate New Year's Eve and where the military parades are held on the 14th of July. Historic national events, like the Liberation at the end of the second World War or the victory in the World Cup football were also celebrated on this wide avenue.
GRAND PALAIS AND PETIT PALAIS At the foot of the Champs-Elysées, the Grand and Petit Palais face one another on Av. Winston Churchill. Built for the 1900 World’s fair, they were widely received as a dazzling combination of “banking and dreaming”, exemplifying the ornate art nouveau architecture. While the Petit Palais houses an eclectic mix of artwork, its big brother has been turned into a space for temporary exhibitions on architecture, painting, sculpture and French history. The Petit Palais has been the residence of the French Presidents since 1873.

The wife of actor Bill Murray has filed for
divorce after almost 11 years of marriage, alleging he abused her
and is addicted to marijuana and alcohol.
Jennifer Butler Murray's complaint also alleges frequent
abandonment by the US film actor, best known for his roles in Lost
in Translation and Ghostbusters. Murray's attorney said the
57-year-old was "deeply saddened by the break-up of his marriage".
However, he refused to comment on Ms Murray's allegations.
The complaint, filed on 12 May in Charleston County,
South Carolina, alleges the actor would often leave home without
telling his wife, travelling overseas to engage in "public and
private altercations and sexual liaisons". It also alleges Murray
physically abused his wife, citing one incident in November 1997
when he "hit her in the face". Ms Murray claims the actor's
"violent, abusive and erratic behaviour... destroyed the marital
relationship between the parties". The couple separated more than
a year ago when Ms Murray moved with their four sons to Sullivan's
Islands, South Carolina. Murray, who has been wed once before,
married Butler, a costume designer and wardrobe supervisor, in
1997. The couple had worked together on the films Scrooged,
Groundhog Day, What About Bob and Ghostbusters II. Murray's
attorney said the pair had been "loving parents" and were
"committed to the best interests of their children". The couple
signed a prenuptial agreement before they married in which they
waived their right to alimony or support in the event of divorce.
However, Murray did agree to pay $7 million to his ex-wife within
60 days of a final divorce decree. Dior drops Sharon Stone in China
Actress Sharon Stone has been dropped by cosmetics firm Christian Dior from its Chinese adverts following remarks she made about the recent earthquake. The firm's Chinese office also issued a statement attributed to Stone, in which she apologised for saying the disaster could have been the result of "karma". In it, Stone said she was "deeply sorry" that her remarks, made in a TV interview last week, caused anguish. The quake struck south-west China on 12 May, and has claimed 68,000 lives. Stone, 50, models for Christian Dior, and the company's Shanghai office issued her apology. "Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people," the statement said. "I am willing to take part in the relief work of China's earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people." Dior's China branch also distanced itself from Stone's remarks. "We don't agree with her hasty, unreflecting remarks and we deeply regret them," it said in a Chinese-language statement. "We absolutely do not support any remark that hurts the Chinese people's feelings." Stone made the controversial remarks at the Cannes Film Festival last week, leading to pledges by some Chinese cinemas not to show her films. "I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else," Stone told a Hong Kong TV crew. "And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and I thought, 'is that karma - when you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?'" Around 20,000 people are still missing following the earthquake, with five million left homeless. Bassey leaves hospital after op

Kevin Federline and Britney Spears were married in September
2004
Britney Spears is not yet well enough to appear in the case dealing with her father's control of her assets, her lawyer has told a Los Angeles court. Samuel Ingham said her condition was "fluid" because of treatment changes. Court commissioner Reva Goetz agreed it may be "harmful" for the singer to appear in her conservatorship case when it goes to court on 31 July. Jamie Spears was granted control of his daughter's assets in February after she was admitted to a psychiatric ward. A US court creates conservatorship when a person cannot care for themselves. $100m estate Mr Ingham and lawyers for Mr Spears met privately in Mr Goetz's chambers for 90 minutes to discuss the condition of Mr Spears. After their meeting, Mr Goetz told the court that, as the singer's diagnosis was incomplete, she was not yet ready to take part in the case, which is due to begin at the end of July. Mr Spears' temporary authority, which puts him in control of her assets and estate, was extended in March until the scheduled start of proceedings. The singer's estate is thought to be worth $100m.Ms Spears has led a troubled existence since splitting from her husband, Kevin Federline, in 2006. Her increasingly eccentric behaviour - which included shaving off her hair in full view of the paparazzi and a shambolic performance at the MTV awards - ended with a spell in a psychiatric ward at the beginning of February. She lost custody of two-and-a-half-year-old Sean Preston and Jayden James, 20 months, in October, and lost visiting rights in January when Mr Federline was given full custody. Earlier this month, a lawyer for Mr Federline said a judge had granted Ms Spears greater access to her sons. The lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said Ms Spears had made progress in getting her personal life back together. Lauren Field in concert
